Why Exercise is Important When on Diets

When you are following diets, whether you chose Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Slimming World or any of the other plans that are out there, exercise is very important. This will help you to build muscle while you drop the pounds and will mean that you lose weight slowly and healthily.

It is recommended that you do 30 minutes of exercise, five days a week but if you are starting from scratch that is not the best idea. You should start slowly and work your way up. Consider 30 minutes of exercise two days a week and then gradually add another day to your list.

That does not mean that you have to do the 30 minutes of exercise in one go. You can split up your day, such as a 15 minute run on a morning and 15 minutes on the Wii Fit after work. You could even split it up into to 10-minute sections; whatever works for you.

If you are really new to exercise and struggling to find ways to fit it into your day, then maybe you should think about changing your journey to work. Consider walking rather than taking the car or even getting off the bus that one stop earlier than you would usually consider. If you really need to take the car, then park at the further end of the parking lot. Just that little bit will help you to get your muscles working and will mean that you are more likely to lose weight.

You do not even need to fork out hundreds a year in a gym membership. Exercise can be free and there are a number of different options open to you. One of the best is running around your local park or around the block. You can put as much effort as you want into running and you can even walk at a fast pace, which will still get your heart rate up and help you to lose weight. All you need to buy is some decent running shoes and clothes, which will last at least a year.

If you hate running with a passion then why not consider swimming or setting up obstacle courses. You can do this with friends and can really have some run. Make the courses as easy or as hard as you want them to be and keep adding something to them. If you are going to swim, add an extra length or two each time you go; this will help you increase the amount that you are doing gradually.

The Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect now make it exceptionally easy to work out in the comfort of your own home. The starting price may seem steep but it is all worth it when you can lose weight and have fun.
